I'one thousand a large fan of fake surround algorithms that brand headphones even better for gaming, whether it'due south to gain a competitive edge or just because it sounds rad. They can make headphones even more immersive, which volition exist important soon as VR hopefully takes off. The ability to surroundify pretty much any game is one of the many reasons I love PC gaming. What do you all think?

I don't use any of that stuff, if a game has proficient audio design you don't demand it. CS is testament to that.

I had a ready of turtle beach headsets for the 360 and felt similar they added a lot to the feel actually. I never had the all-time sound fix before simply directionally speaking the way TB'south could projection audio added a whole lot to the experience. If I can find the time to play video games regularly again I would want a similar headset for ane of the new generation consoles considering I am convinced it is a worthwhile investment.

I practise need a amend headset, merely the one I have now I got on sale and works alright. The but annoying things are that the mic is usually far too quiet, the audio coming through the headphones is usually far also quiet, and at that place isn't a big enough range with the book control. Works fine until voice chat or streaming where you demand something louder.

Maybe I should go a preamp for this :P

I used to have an external USB Dolby surroundings sound thing included with my headset, but I got new headphones and stopped using information technology. It's just a matter of preference depending on the headphones to me. I don't retrieve it e'er gave me an edge or anything (most games are designed with stereo in heed anyway). Information technology was useful in keeping out the static noise from the onboard sound plug on my laptop though.

I was using the virtual surroundings audio on my Logitech's, but they bankrupt. Now I use that Sony Gold headset, which is pretty nice, and it has virtual environment sound. I hate the thought of having an entire device to plug into all my systems and TV. I can deal with but this headset. Likewise it works perfectly find on the PC also.

Every bit a rule of thumb software audio 'enhancements' are detriment to the quality of the audio you lot're getting.

Almost every piece of virtual surround sound gear I've owned has sounded weird and imbalanced with the option turned on and I don't similar it.

I tried the razor thingy, simply I ended up simply going back to surround.

I can't remember whether it was considering of quality bug, or software problems - that tend to plague razor stuff.

These are actually nice headphones and so it's possible it just sounded better without information technology.

I utilize the built in dolby headphone functionality on my xonar STX essence, sounds great with a few tweaks, also I installed an application called Xonarwitch that is awesome, y'all can set several profiles of settings and modify easily between them, so changing to a dolby headphone setup when going to game and irresolute it support when I've finished is hassle free.

It really improves the environs feeling imo, plus it's not bad cause you can use it with any pair of headphones you got.

Sounds like a load of crap to exist honest. Every human with fully functioning hearing already uses surround virtualisation software. It is in your brain.

The fact that this stuff comes out of companies like Razer and is simply always marketed at gamers and never at, say, cinephiles merely serves to make me more suspicious.

Been thinking well-nigh picking up a decent mixamp, but mainly and then I can use my expert headset with the PS4 and then I tin can finally buy some squeamish loftier impedance headsets. Been having my optics on the beyerdynamic dt990 pros for a while now.
